Jan Steenekamp
Originally from South Africa, Jan made tennis his outlet early on. He competed at the highest levels as a junior player acquiring a national top 10 singles ranking and #1 doubles ranking.
He was recruited to play college tennis at the University of Louisiana Monroe and then at the University of Montana where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance. During his college playing career, Jan played #1 singles and was a three-time Big Sky Conference first team, as well as a Southland Conference selection.
Previously he was the Director of High-Performance Tennis at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, NV and more recently, he served as the Director of Junior Tennis at the Peak Racquet Club Missoula, MT and Men’s Assistant Coach at the University of Montana.
He has been instrumentally involved with the USTA as a Team USA Coach, Zone Team coach for the Intermountain Section, serving on three USTA committees, and in 2019, was awarded the USTA Intermountain Section Junior Development Coach of the Year.
Jan is a USPTA Elite and USTA High Performance Certified Tennis Professional.
