Mate Zsiga

Mate (MAH-tay) Zsiga was born on May 5, 1992 in Deggendorf, Germany to Hungarian parents, Dr. Laszlo and Edit Zsiga.  With his father as coach, Mate began playing tennis at the age of two. His brother Marton was his primary practice mate until he began competing internationally at the age of 11.  He continued his junior tennis career with the International Tennis Federation until the age of 18 and was ranked #7 in the world by the junior ITF.  During that time, he competed in three Grand Slam tournaments (the French Open, US Open and Wimbledon).

Zsiga was recruited by numerous U.S. colleges and universities including USC, Texas A&M and Ohio State) and eventually chose to play for Coach Matt Knoll at Baylor University, attributing his choice to Knoll’s strong work ethic.  During his career at Baylor, Zsiga was a four-year Letter winner, Singles All American, a four-time Big 12 Conference champion and an NCAA Final Four participant.

Zsiga joins the nationally acclaimed staff of Tucker Tennis Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma as a Lead High Performance Coach in August 2016.
